elFinder

This is just unix symlinks you can make one in console:

ln -s path/file.txt links/here/as/super.txt

Many thanks for reply. I am running on windows 7 machine with apache (XAMPP). I have cygwin and managed to create the links through this. However it just downloads them as a file through the elfinder. Is there something I can add. Is there a mime type I also need to add. Is it my server config that needs tweaking.

I also checked the json output and seems very different from the example.

Is it possible to create these from elfinder. I think this would be a great feature.

elFinder haven't been tested well on windows and can't create symlinks, it can only understand this symlink. Windows links are just some kind of files, but in unix symlinks are special kind of file.

About creating links from elFinder... I'm sure if will implement it, actually you are the first one to ask about it. Though you can create an issue for elFinder with this feature.

I definitely second the notion of creating symlinks from within elfinder!

This feature was drop off from next version 2.0, mostly because not all OSes support it and not a lot of requests (only two of you) were made.
